Front Garden Transformation

This low maintenance but colourful front garden was previously a bindweed jungle. See Instagram: @thepengegardener for further details.

First visit: Bindweed jungle.

Weeding and levelling to do.

Showing structure of block circle – smaller on top.

Awaiting pebble delivery.

Almost finished.

The client was kind enough to let me realise my own vision with this one. First step was to clear bindweed, prune, weed and see what was there. Next step levelling, pea gravel, permeable mesh. Then I installed a circular bed made of reclaimed granite blocks and planted up a small scheme consisting of Sambucus nigra, Nandina domestica, Azalea, Ceanothus and Cordyline. All plants are from Croxted Road Garden Centre. I also planted some white narcissi in the front border.

Finally I laid Scottish 20-30mm cobbles supplied by Decorativeaggregates.com. I slightly underestimated the amount needed so more will be added to fill the gaps on the next visit.

Have tools, will travel!
